My last blog post was back in 2023, so an update is definitely overdue! I’ve been working behind the scenes for quite some time, and I’ve finally given my website a complete overhaul.
There’s actually a lot I want to talk about – from rebuilding the website, lessons I’ve learnt through the process, some interesting discoveries from dealing with website security, and even some of the creative decisions behind the new branding. Rather than throwing everything into one huge post, I thought I’d split them up and schedule a few updates over the coming weeks.
For now, I’ll focus on the biggest change: the website itself.
Finding My Focus
It took me far too long to realise that my website simply lacked focus.
Looking back, the same could probably be said about my YouTube channel. Both were representing different sides of me – voiceover and streaming – but neither had a clear identity.
So I decided it was finally time to organise everything properly.
The website is now split into three clear sections:
- Voiceover – my main creative focus and the area where I want to showcase my performance work.
- Gaming – my streaming, gaming content, and everything related to that side of my creativity.
- Design – my graphic design work, branding projects, and the skills I’ve built throughout my career.
When I was job hunting for graphic design roles, I realised I had been hiding a huge part of my experience. There was previously a small design section buried away on my website, but it raised an obvious question:
Why am I hiding it?
These are all skills I’ve spent years developing, so they should be visible and celebrated rather than tucked away.
These blogs started out mainly as a place to talk about voiceover, but I may expand them into different categories in the future because there are plenty of topics I want to share.
A New Identity
One of the biggest changes is the branding.
I looked back at the character model I originally sketched by hand, then painstakingly developed using 3D models and vector artwork. Creating that character took several days, and it was a really rewarding process.
I know there are mixed opinions about AI among creatives, but I became curious about how AI would reinterpret my own design. I wanted to see what it could do with a character I had already imagined. The result honestly surprised me.
It captured exactly what I was aiming for: a speedster-style hero with a distinctive vocal-inspired helmet. The idea behind the character was always to represent what I wanted my brand to communicate:
- Fast and efficient work.
- A powerful and memorable voice.
- A professional creative identity.
- A subtle connection to gaming like Megaman. (Although, ironically, I’ve not actually played Mega Man!)
Since the website is now divided into three creative areas, I decided the character should have three different forms too. Because who didn’t love transformation sequences growing up? Power Rangers, anyone?
Each form represents a different side of my work:
🟡 Yellow Form – focused on sound and voice, with a more aggressive grilled helmet design.
⚪ White Form – a blank canvas representing creativity, design, and artistic exploration.
🩷 Pink Form – a neon-inspired gaming identity with a more energetic style.
The idea is that they’re not separate characters, but different sides of the same creative identity.
What’s Next?
The rebrand isn’t quite finished yet.
The next step is updating my videos and creating new introductions for each section. I’ve already written the scripts – now I just need to find the time to record, edit, and put everything together.
That’s been the challenge recently: balancing this project alongside job hunting and everything else happening at the same time. It’s been a busy few months, but I’m finally seeing everything come together.
I’ve also added a Games Played section to the website. Partly because I wanted somewhere to showcase the games I’ve experienced, but also because it gives me a reason to keep updating the site more regularly rather than disappearing for years between posts!
There are still plenty of things I want to talk about – including the future of BoardGameReader, what happens next with CapyFi, and some lessons I’ve learnt while rebuilding this website.
But I’ll save those for another post.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you soon.
