July ’22 Looking Ahead

Little Nightmares

Hello! Thanks for being curious of my journey, again it has been a while since my last update and as things were looking up unfortunately this start of the year was the worst mentally: I’m not sure how much I should share but I feel it’s important to talk about and be aware of symptoms before any health gets worse. Bowel Cancer had been found in one of my parents, and unfortunately despite surgeries it had spread, so we’re undergoing chemotherapy treatment to hopefully have a longer life. Bowel cancer in particular has also been on the news quite a bit too – since it can affect any one of us, if you have any symptoms such as blood in your stool please immediately get it checked out. Forget pride or laziness, the early it is caught the better, unfortunately the Pandemic actually postponed further investigation so it could have been caught over a year ago. It’s just been a set of very unfortunate circumstances. I’ll leave a link for anyone worried about any symptoms: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/bowel-cancer/symptoms.

Improv

But prior to the gloom, I did find some light from taking Improv classes with Closing Credits and met a wonderful bunch of people around the world whom I am proud to share this VO journey with. I’m sure great things will come to each of them as they’re all very talented, and I’m honestly very relieved to have more people to talk to about voice over.

Twitch

Since I’ve found out the news, I hadn’t had the heart to broadcast on Twitch as it felt wrong to put on a mask and ignore the real world for some trivial gaming. But I hope to be back on soon later in the year if things are progressing well enough. It would be nice to just forget about my worries for a moment.

IMDB & Other Opportunities

Surprisingly, I’ve been very lucky enough to have paid opportunities come to me despite not having actively been searching from all that had been going on, I did end up succeeding in that Audition last year for an AudioBook from FindAway Voices, it’s now on Amazon (Eternal Heights). A few kind people reached out on Mandy and from which stemmed my very own IMDB page! All thanks to Kollodi! Plus I’ve had my very first job on VoiceMachine for a neat Travel Commercial recently. I’ve had some other sign ups too for various sites, so I’m really grateful that this snowball of mine is slowly rolling and gathering a bit of traction. I suppose for any VOs out there who are in a bit of a slump, just don’t lose hope, each day something can happen and if you work each day, the more “snow” you’re piling on!

Peaky Blinders

Speaking of adverse weather conditions, sadly I couldn’t spot myself in the latest season of Peaky Blinders, there’s a guy holding a crate in the rain but I can’t remember if that was me or not! Hours of being drenched in the shivering cold, actors sure have it tough! But it was a fun set to be on anyway.

Other Activities

During my year, I’ve also been trying a few other things such as Amazon Publishing: I’ve made a few journals now listed on various international markets on Amazon which is kinda different and fun. It keeps the Graphic Designer part of me alive I guess. And lately, I’ve been dabbling in a bit of Audio Engineering for Singing Vocals, my own in fact! So I hope to release a few videos regarding it soon. I’m slowly getting the ear for it, honestly for the longest time I couldn’t hear the difference between adjusting vocal effects. I’m sure back then I didn’t have these beautiful Sony Headphones and switching them back and forth from other ones marks a huge quality difference. I’d recommend to any VO to just try a good professional pair and see if you can notice any difference, it was world’s apart for me.

I think that’s enough from me so far, but I wish you all well, and I hope to post some more soon.
